Certification, traceability and change control

A supplier that mixes its own compounds is a supplier that could change them. That is exactly why change control is written down and auditable here.

Certification

Elastobras has held ISO 9001 certification continuously for more than twenty years. The current certificate is the most recent cycle in that sequence.

The certified scope includes compounding

The certificate covers compound formulation and preparation, and the manufacture of rubber articles. Our mixing room is not adjacent to the quality system — it is inside it.

This matters for anyone qualifying us as a supplier. A processor that buys ready-made compound is certified for what it moulds. We are certified for what we formulate as well, which is where most variation in an elastomer part actually originates.

Control

Batch release

Every compound batch is tested on a rheometer and for hardness before release. The rheometer curve shows the full cure behaviour of the batch — not only the final property — which is what catches a formulation or weighing deviation before it becomes a moulded part. Results are recorded and retained per batch.

Traceability

Every delivered lot traces back through part lot, compound batch, raw material lot and supplier. Records are retained.

Dimensional inspection

Parts are inspected against customer drawing. On the extrusion lines, cut parts pass 100% automated inline inspection; diameter is measured continuously during extrusion.

Change control

Once a compound is approved for a customer part, the formulation is frozen. No change to formulation, raw material supplier, tooling or process is made without prior written notification and customer approval — including changes that would be invisible in the finished part.

Customer audit

Elastobras is open to customer audit of production and compounding areas, including formulation and batch records under confidentiality agreement.

Current improvement programme

We are working on process stability, automated deflashing and machine-vision inspection, and are evaluating liquid silicone rubber for selected part families.

We would rather describe a programme in progress than claim a finished state. Ask if you want the detail behind any of it.
